learning a bit of computer

2008 28 01 2008

because if, today, Monday, Jan. 28 between classes at the U, this semester I'm going to see a field that is called operating systems 1, and that tareita we find out it was touch paging, segmentation and defragmentation.

the truth because I liked having consulted learned something today, something you should know a systems engineer.

Paging: they are paging system memory which diviven programs in parts or pieces. which pages are called frames. ex: when you open your msn, the loading into memory, but the page is the process that makes the messenger is loaded into pieces, I leave here a picture of how serious:

More info here.

fragmentation: is a very serious problem in hard disks, because when a delete a file, the space is there, and as the files are not contiguous arhivos access to the disk becomes inefficient. is called defragmentation process, to remove the empty spaces so that the files are contiguous I leave here a picture of how the defragmentation

There is also the internal fragmentation and external that you can see here

segmentation: a method to enhance the performance of microprocessors (in English pipelining, literally pipeline). The name comes from which to drive the gas in a pipeline at full speed is necessary to divide the pipeline in installments and to place a bomb on a new impetus to the gas. The analogy with programming that exists in the calculations must be registered or synchronized with the clock every so often so that the critical path (or leg with more cargo records delay between two computer clock) is reduced.

More info here.

the truth are things that do not know, but thank God and is, and you know what these things can get one of greaves: problemon. are things that a systems engineer must know

pda: I am not a systems engineer, I am going in just the fourth semester.
